SHOES

14 Mar

I had a good friend challenge me recently…. she asked me to bedazzle some shoes for her wedding! She wanted a fabulous pair of louboutin’s but would end up being taller than her groom, so I attempted to make them in flats…

and VIOLA! they’re perfect and it’s all intact! I’m going to start making some for myself πŸ˜‰

Busy busy wedding season!

13 Mar

After all the holidays and ice, it was hard getting back into the swing of things, but I’m back on track! I did a piece for my dear friend Natalie for her California wedding to Ibe in January! Beach weddings are kind of a perfect connection backdrop, dont you think?

I recently added to a piece for another bride (Lauryn), whom I cannot post bridals for yet in lieu of her fiance not seeing them! But I have seen a preview of them and they are GORGEOUS! Those will come soon enough along with pictures of her bridesmaids pieces!

Dawn’s piece was 3rd in line, she got married this past weekend! Here’s a preview of the piece:

I also met with two brides yesterday. One whom I made shoes for (will post a quick picture tomorrow) and then another for a piece and a bridesmaid piece for a May wedding!

BUSY BUSY BUSY AM I!!!!

Holidays are here and gone

14 Jan

I must say, I LOVE the holidays, but I am also glad they are done! Thanks to everyone who placed a special holiday order from me, I hope you are enjoying your pieces even after Christmas/New Years! (side note,Β click on any of the images in this post to make them larger to view better detail)

As for me, Christmas Eve I got off work and flew home to my parents house in south Texas. I made my mother, sister, and aunt pieces for Christmas. I hope they are wearing theirs! I told them all to take photos whenever they wore them, even if it was with their phone, but who knows when that’ll happen! I did snap a photo of my aunts after I completed it:

I also had the pleasure of making a piece for a very special salon client of mine! Hers is specifically a pin for her lapel.

I made a mask for a male friend for a masquerade party new years, which I have dabbled in in the past. We used to have a high school dance called masquerade (and the opposing high school had mardi gras), in which I used to make my masks, my sisters, and a few friends. They’re lots of fun reguardless of wear, just for display! Here’s a few photos of the man mask:

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and New Years! Florida was good to me for New Years, it was a warm 75 degrees! I’ll leave you with one last photo, the one of my piece I wore on NYE. Now the hat wasn’t a part of the original look, but you know they passed these things around so I decided to attach it to the hat to make it spiffier. Needless to say, I turned heads. πŸ™‚

Hats off to 2011! xo -k.

A little addition….

3 Dec

I have added combs to the collection! Here are 2 custom pieces i’ve already worked on and shipped out.

I am waiting on portraits from the bride for this 3rd one. (My coworker was so kind to model it for me to show the size, this one was 4 inches long)

What will I do next? πŸ˜‰

I’m sorry!

2 Dec

Between creating beautiful head masterpieces and working 6 days a week, it’s been a little difficult to update! I am working on some wonderful holiday pieces and can’t wait to display them all! If you would like one before Christmas or New Years I suggest you hurry… I will be taking orders until the 19th, as I will be on vacation from the 24th until the 3rd of January!

I did have an amazing shoot [featuring yours truly!] with my beautiful and ever so talented friend, Lisa, back in November! (Lisa Michelle Photography) It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to do another! Of course when it warms back up a little πŸ™‚

(check out the rest here!)

Lots of love this holiday season! xo -k.

Featured Piece

16 Nov

One of my pieces I featured back in Septemer (HOOK EM!) caught a beautiful brides eyes and ended up matching her colors perfectly! I also happened to have been wearing it the day she stopped by to talk to me about making a piece and she really fell in love with it so much that I just had to let her have this one. Natasha Brown shot the beautiful images!

keep spreading the love! πŸ™‚

WEBSITE IS LAUNCHED!

12 Nov

It is nice to finally have a phase of my website up and running! Of course I know it isn’t hard to check things here or on facebook, but still you know! My lovely coworker Alex Chennault did the design for me. Enjoy!

publicity!

10 Oct

I have made it an effort to wear more pieces out and having people I know wear theirs, and it’s helping getting the word out! I have given out all of my business cards and am onto ordering my 2nd batch!

I even sold my beloved UT made piece to a bride whose colors were exactly that. I mean she just fell in LOVE with it as I had it on. It was nice because I was going to make a custom piece with her colors for her, but that expression on her face when she saw it, priceless! I can’t wait to share her bridals with you all!

Here is one of my pieces that has recently been worn in public:

AND yes, I have another NEW addition! I’m stepping farther and farther outside of my box…. butterflies! Here’s a preview of one of my pieces with the new butterfly option.

Here’s to a productive Sunday and Monday!

Michael Baker Shootout

3 Oct

I was up early this morning to rock out some awesome hair with some of my William Edge Dallas crew! I must say, the energy was awesome! We traveled to the Aveda Institute Dallas for a shoot – one female and one male. After this trial, I have a NEW addition! Actual hair pieces to attach to your own for updos, photo shoots, et al. Here’s a preview of the fishtail braid* I made for the shoot we did (and of course one of our male model, because the hair rocked just as hard as our female model!):

*the hair was custom matched to her color formula

Productive Monday

20 Sep

I am excited to finally have a live portfolio for everyone to view now with me πŸ™‚ It’s easier than telling them just to go check out my site (which I do not mind by any means), but it helps in the personal environment when talking about creating a custom piece. I can’t wait to have everything else finished too. I shall soon have my DBA/LLC…. exciting!

I am starting work on my 5th bridal piece today! It’s going to be a little more simple than the previous ones so I’m actually intrigued to work on it, as it is really easy for me to be extreme and extravagant. I really want to create something that is beautiful and that stands out without pushing too much detail and staying within the simple boundaries of my bride.

Off to shop for some more supplies!
